In 1824, Methodist preacher Timothy Merritt published The Christian’s Manual, A Treatise on Christian Perfection, comprised mainly of excerpts from John Wesley and John Fletcher. Its popular reception led to a flood of Holiness literature, leading some scholars to date the beginning of the American Holiness Movement with Merritt’s publishing venture in 1824. It was the vanguard of a great revival that would forever change the world and deserves commemoration today. To this end, several commemorative items, including apparel and accessories, have been made available to mark 200 Years of American Holiness Literature.
