Q: Why wool and not Acrylic? Acrylic is so much more affordable!
A: Yes, despite wool yarn being at least twice as expensive as acrylic yarn, wool is a more ethical and sustainable material then acrylic. Acrylic is plastic and creates micro plastics as well as gets frizzy with use and this can not be undone. Wool is antimicrobial, filters the air, lasts a long time, does not harm the animal during production and ages beautifully. Additionally a lot of scrap yarn is produced during the tufting process, and because wool can be felted, this “waste” can be turned into dryer balls and other items.
